Bio

Marlin is a doctoral candidate at Ghent University, supervised by Dr. Beatriz Esteves and Prof. Ruben Verborgh. As part of the HARNESS network, she researches how decentralized data architectures can balance interoperability with governance, trust, and regulatory compliance.

She holds an MSc in Biophysics and Quantitative Biotechnology from Universidad de Zaragoza in Spain, with a focus on quantitative and data-driven methods. Her previous experiences include microbiome research at icipe, health information work at Amref Health Africa, and supporting ethical and participant-centred research processes at the U.S. Army Medical Research Directorate (USAMRD-A). These interdisciplinary experiences shaped her interest in decentralized and user-centred knowledge ecosystems.
