The doctoral candidate will assess the potential impact of (future) EU AI and data regulation in terms of stimulating new business start-ups and the entry of businesses from other regions or countries. One of the evaluation criteria will be to explore the views of existing businesses on how business conditions would change for them and on the potential for new investment and product development as a result of new regulation. The DC will identify appropriate research topics, design an appropriate questionnaire, find an appropriate format for contacting respondents, collect responses and evaluate them.

Requirements
- must not have a doctoral degree at the date of their recruitment
- must work exclusively for the project
- must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting institution for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date. Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are not taken into account
- must enroll in a doctoral programme before starting to work
- willing to undertake physical, transnational mobility (i.e. move from one country to another) when taking up their appointment
- can be of any nationality
